Imagine Moana.gif

The cool sea air wisped past the green undergrowth, the trees and palm leaves whispered, the native birds called over, seeking shelter with the setting sun. The ocean tide slowly started to stretch, reaching further up the shoreline. You walked gracefully along the shore, your bare feet buried underneath the soft sands of the earth, your mind drifted, your heart yearned.

It had been years since you felt the water take over. Your hands brush through the clear waters of the reef, your body kicking and swimming, becoming one with the ocean, your home. But you left that life behind, ever since the demigod, Maui took the heart of Te Fiti, the goddess of life. The sea was never the same…

Filled with creatures; creatures of the underworld inhabited your world making it almost impossible to live in peacefully. You were always on alert, trying to defend and protect the mortals, but it became too great until you faced the wrath of Te Ka, and the burned scar you lived with showed of your defeat.

So you fled, went into hiding and walked on the land of the mortals. It was strange at first, you were not use to the dry earth that Maui had pulled from the depths of the sea, but you taught yourself, and became a human… That is what your villages believes, and you wish to keep it that way.

Which brings you to where you were: walking the sands of Motunui islands. (An island you had called your home.) Thinking peacefully, your wise (e/c) eyes set on the darkening horizon, where nightfall would soon take over.

Maybe when the village sleeps, maybe you could…

“(Y/N)!”

Your eyes snapped over to where you heard a voice call, your eyes catching the presence of the chief's daughter, Moana approaching you, a large smile graced her flawless face. You couldn’t help but smile back, your attention now on the young girl before you, your back to the waves.

“My princess,” you stopped in front of her, placing your hand over your chest you bowed your head respectfully. “It is good to see you in good spirits, my lady.”

Moana was stunned and could not help but allow a light shade of pink dust her cheeks, but she recovered quickly, reminding herself on why she rushed to find the hunter, her best friend, adviser, and unknown demigod.

“(Y/N), I said no formalities! It makes me feel older.” she groaned, crossing her arms over her chest.

You chuckled, your body shaking from the deep rumble. You loved to tease her of her status as princess, she never liked to be called that. “Sorry,” you rolled your eyes, getting into a much more relaxed posture. Noticing the sudden urge to speak, “is their something you would like to talk about?”

Her eyes light up immediately, nodding her head vigorously. “Yes! That’s exactly it!” you raised your eyebrow, “You wouldn't believe what I discovered! We were voyagers!”

You blink. Both of your eyebrows raised in shock, your mouth a slight agasp. How did she find out?! You thought back to who could have told her, beside her parents, her father was against going across the reef thus the danger it would cause. Most of the elders had passed who had the knowledge, the only one he could think of was Tala, the “village crazy Lady”, but he never thought her crazy, just a woman with stories and wisdom to share.

“Moana…”
“I now know what to do!”
“Moana.”
“We can go to my father, we can tell him together!”
“Wait, Moana-”
“He needs to know the danger we are in! We have to return the heart of Te Fiti and bring back the peace!
“Moana don’t you think-”
“We had sail across the reef together and restore the peace, (Y/N)! We can-”
“Moana!”

The young girl looked at you, taken back at the raise of your voice, her eyes wide. You’ve never raised your voice, you were always so calm and peaceful like the sea. But the way your eyes narrowed and your face slightly red, this was a new you she has never seen.

You sighed, closing your eyes you scrunched up your nose, shaking your head you pinched the bridge of your nose. Not this again…

You had grown with Moana when you were reincarnated as a young village boy. You were familiar with Moana’s love for the sea, like you, the need to discover and reach beyond the islands reef. But you knew the danger and what it could do for Moana, so you never really encouraged it, afraid she would get herself hurt or worse, killed. You cared for her, much more than you would like to admit, and you did not wanna see her hurt. But you were a demigod, and she was a mortal, it would never work, you never aged. But you were no fool, you knew the sea choose her. That was the of the reasons you were there, to guide her, to protect her and help her. You were a demigod of the sea, the son of the Ocean. It was your duty. But no matter, you were afraid, and you did not know when her time would come, but you sensed it was soon, and you were terrified.

“Moana, you know what your father would say. He would not allow it! It’s too dangerous.” you argued, your face slightly twisted with irritation.

Moana’s eyebrows knitted together, her eyes desperate, “It does not matter what my father says! It’s my destiny, I was chosen to return the heart of Te Fiti! (Y/N) you know these waters, you know how to sail! I need your help, please.” you could hear the strain in her voice, she was desperate, she was scared and determined. “I know you want to go, too!”

You shook your head, “I do not!”
I do.

Moana rolled her eyes. “I have seen the way you look out into the distance, that longing. You want to go beyond the reef! I can see it! You don’t fool me, (Y/N)!”

“Moana I don’t want to! It’s to dangerous!”
You have no idea how much I miss it…

“Yes you do! Please, (Y/N)! We can go together and--”

“I SAID NO!” you roared, “You need to stop this Moana! Your people need you! You're to naive to realize that the sea is restless and dangerous! It will kill you! I am not going to let you do something so stupid and get yourself killed your mean to much to me--” your eyes widen when you realize what you said.

“What?”

“Your people! I said you mean to much to your people!”
Stupid! Stupid!! STUPID!

A shadow of disappointment and hurt reflected on her face, and you so badly wanted to pull her close and tell her you were wrong and that you would sail together and restore peace. But that would be the wrong thing to do, right?

Moana looked at you, a sudden hardness replaced her hurt, rage built in the back of her eyes. She stepped closer to you, looking up at you because of the height difference. “Out of everyone: my father! My mother! My people! They all told me how wrong I was, and that my place was here! That my dreams and destiny lied here! You knew of my dreams! My wishes and hopes! I though at least you would understand!” she yelled, but her face fell, hurt clouding her eyes.

Moana…

“I guess I was wrong…”

Your eyes widen, your heart plummeted and shattered. She did not mean that, did she?

“Moana…”

“No.” She shook her head, stepping back away from you. “You’re just like everyone else! I thought I could rely on you! But you’re just like my father!” she yelled in frustration, turning around, she head back in the direction of the village.

“Moana, wait!” but she did not wait, she disappeared in the undergrowth, hurt and confused.

You stood in silence, stunned at what just happen. Your mind slowly wrapped around what you just heard, and what you have done. You sighed deeply, throwing your hands up you growled out in anger. “Stupid, stupid, stupid! Agh!” you threw your hands to the side, angry at yourself.

You heard the sudden rush of water and a snap, your angry immediately dropped and your eyes snapped over in the direction of the sounds. The once dry sand was weat and sleek, it followed in a straight curved line that lead to a palm tree.

Crack!

Your eyes looked up at the tree as it started to tip over in your direction! Oh, no… You quickly dodged the falling tree, getting out of the way but barely. You landed on the dry sand, your attention on the fallen tree in front of you that could have just killed you!

“Did I do that?” you spoke out loud, unaware of another presence hiding not far behind.

“Yes you did.” your head snapped over to the shadows where you saw Tala stand, a knowing smile on her face. “And might I say, quite impressive, young kiapolō.”

“Tala,” you looked over at the tree then over at the older woman. You quickly got to your feet, about to try and explain yourself or make up a believable lie, but the woman bet you to it.

“You are the son of the sea, are you not?”

You opened your mouth to lie, but you knew it was no use, she caught you. You sighed in defeat and nodded your head, hanging your head in shame. You were ready for her to yell at you, scold you for “abandoning” the people the son of the sea swore to protect. You prepared yourself to be exiled from the village, to return to the invested waters and once more to face Te Ka.

Laughing. You looked up in shock to see her… laughing. She was laughing? This took you back! Why was she laughing at you? Why was she not telling the others? Exposing you for a liar that you were? She was laughing at you!

“I knew it!” she cheered, her smile ever widening. “I knew you were him! I just had to wait and see it for myself! And I have!” she walked over to you, circling and examining you as if you were a whole new person.  “Fascinating…” she mumbled.

“Lady Tala, I can explain!” you rushed, watching as she stopped circling you and was facing you. Her smile only growing.

“You are the one to help Moana; to take her across the seas and find Maui and help to return the heart of Te Fiti, are you not?”

That was true. With your exile of the sea, you were given the task to help Moana when she was chosen, but still… “Y-yes… I am, but-”

“Then what are you waiting for, boy? Go! Help Moana in her quest to restore the heart of Te Fiti!” Tala smiled.

You sighed and shook your head. The fight you had with Moana a little while ago resurfacing. “Tala, you don’t understand. Moana can’t even look at me, now. And the ocean is too dangerous! She could be killed! I have been gone from my home for far too long, I am weak.”

“Nonsense,” she waved off, “I saw the fight. And I can see you are concerned for Moana. But I am not blind, you also care for her. Don’t you?”

Oh, she was good.

You bit the inside of your cheek, glancing away for a moment. Is there nothing you can’t hide from this lady?

“I do,” you confessed.

Tala smiled, seeing the feelings hidden behind your eyes Moana did not see. She reached over with one of her hands. She grasp your larger one, her wrinkled eyes looking up at you. They were filled with stories, stories passed down from ancestor to ancestor. Stories of her own. Wisdom and knowledge few acknowledge. But you did.

“You are the son of the Sea, (Y/N). You are powerful, and you were chosen to help Moana. But you are hesitant because of your concern for her. Do not let that stop you, boy. Go. Help her. She needs you more then you know.”

You looked down at Tala, nodding your head. She was right. Moana needed you. You pulled Tala into a gentle but firm hug, showing your appreciation.

“Thank you, kupunawahine.” you said. “I will not let you down.” you pulled away from her hug and turned around, quickly dashing off into the island's growth, heading straight for the villages public meeting building.

You knew Moana would be their, and you knew that together you would return the heart of Te Fiti and bring back the peace. Together.
* Imagine * You are a Demigod that helps Moana on her quest, but you can't help but fall in love with the princess...
